Tampa Bay, Florida – Women In Defense Greater Tampa Bay (WID GTB) is honored to be able to support Stay In Step to purchase rehabilitation equipment. The donation will directly support rehab programs and equipment that allow veterans and civilians with spinal cord and neurological disorders through physical therapy, close-knit support groups and mental strength-training. Stay In Step was founded by veteran Romulo “Romy” Camargo and his wife, Gaby Camargo. During Romy’s third deployment to Afghanistan, his unit was ambushed. Romy sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his neck, leaving him paralyzed from the shoulders down. When Romy finally made it home to Tampa Bay, he and his wife were traveling two hours every day to and from a rehab facility. Romy and Gaby decided to create their own facility that provides progressive support for caregivers complete with a community of inspiration and motivation. “WID GTB is a non-profit organization that prides itself on being able to give back to our community,” explains Debbie Miller, WID GTB’s President. “Our chapter was fortunate to have Chief Warrant Officer Romulo Camargo tell his story at our Chapter Charter Celebration and our membership was touched by the amazing work and service Stay In Step provides to our community.” As an association comprised of members whose professional activities are related to national defense or security, WID GTB saw an opportunity to help Stay in Step further their ability to provide a state of the art rehabilitation facility. “We are so honored to fund a small part of Stay in Step’s programs,” affrms Miller. ## Women In Defense (WID), A National Security Organization is an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association which was established as a non-profit organization in 1985.
